Shakiso Guji - Daye Bensa

Shakiso is a town in Oromia RegionEthiopia. Located in the Guji Zone of the Oromia Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of 5°45′N 38°55′E and an elevation of 1758 meters above sea level.

Two of the major mines of Ethiopia are located near Shakiso: the Lega Dembi gold and the Kenticha tantalum. The zone is found adjacently to the Ganale Dorya river, which also acts as the boundary line with the neighboring Bale zone to the east. To the west, Guji borders the southern Gedeb woreda of the Gedeo Zone in the neighboring Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Region, part of the Yirgacheffe coffee growing area.


The
 altitude of of the station that processed this lot is around 2,200m above sea level and located at the highest altitude among other coffee-growing areas in the country. The coffee harvested in this area is categorized as Highland Coffee.
This coffee comes from small plots in the highland area of Shakiso, which benefits the flavour potential of the coffee. Coffee is the main cash crop in this area, though many other crops grow here such as sugar cane, false banana, spices and vegetables.
